WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH THE LJM WATERVIEW 15-STOREY DEVELOPMENT?

At the December 13, 2016 Planning and Development Committee public meeting, Winston and Lakelawn residents stated loud and clear that the 15-storey LJM Waterview development is not appropriate and does not belong in their backyards.  The committee listened and denied the application for Official Plan and Zoning amendments to increase the height to 15 storeys from 9.

In a stunning move, Council overturned the committee’s decision on December 19 and approved the applications giving the green light to 15 storeys (kudos to Alderman Kadwell for being the only dissenting voice).  An appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board was filed and a pre-hearing date has been set for July 5.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

The fight is not over.  You can still show your support for responsible growth and development in Grimsby and help stop this from proceeding. By attending the July 5th pre-hearing, you can register to be a “participant” at the full OMB hearing, which will probably be held in the fall/winter.  At the full hearing, you can either submit your concerns in writing or make an in-person statement, the latter of which is more effective.  After registering as a participant at the pre-hearing, a date and time will be arranged for you to present.

We are putting a lot of time, energy and effort into this case and costs to prepare and present extensive legal and planning evidence for this hearing will be significant.  We are reaching out to you to help by contributing financially to the fight.  All monies raised will be used to contract expert legal and planning assistance and expenditure statements will be available, please note that we cannot however issue tax receipts.

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
