Here are some of the photos we took downtown this afternoon of the aftermath of the fire. It was quite an unsettling scene and eerily quiet, given what a regular Friday afternoon in the downtown area would normally be like.
It was good to see Alderman Dave Wilson on the scene downtown, talking to officials, reporters and residents with his ability to lift spirits. A special “tip of the hat” also goes out to members of the Grimsby Fire Department who are still on the scene and Niagara Regional Police Service for keeping the scene contained and minimizing traffic impact on the area.
Let’s hope this setback for residents and downtown can be quickly put behind them and that this section of historic downtown can be restored to it’s former glory.
